Sovura vs Lonex Labs: Why Hosted Beats Self-Hosted

Lonex Labs sells encrypted self-hosted web apps. Sovura is a hosted platform that bundles every module your community needs. Here's why we're the long-term play.

If you’re shopping for a FiveM CAD, you’ve probably looked at Lonex Labs. They sell encrypted, self-hosted web apps that you install on your own server. Seven separate products, individual prices, “lifetime updates.”

That sounds appealing until you actually run a community for more than a year.

This post is why Sovura is the better long-term play for serious roleplay communities.

What you’re actually buying with Lonex

To match what Sovura ships in one product, you would buy:

Lonex productPrice
LonexCAD$50
LonexCAD In-Game$20
LonexCommunity$40
LonexStaff$60
Helpdesk Module$15
Staff Module$15
Total$200 once

That’s six separate web apps. Six installers. Six databases. Six admin UIs. Six update cycles. One license server they all phone home to.

Where the model breaks down

Lonex is honest about how their software works. Their site says “License-protected resources with encrypted validation.” That means three things you should think about:

  • You cannot fix anything yourself. The code is encrypted. When something breaks at 2am, you are waiting for Lonex to ship a patch.
  • Your install needs the license server alive. If Lonex’s license infrastructure goes down or is shut off, your installation is at risk. This has happened to other encrypted FiveM vendors. It can happen here.
  • You run the infrastructure. Lonex sells you the software. You buy the VPS, you back up the database, you patch the operating system, you renew the SSL cert, you debug when the disk fills up.

The “lifetime” promise depends on Lonex staying alive forever and on you running ops forever. Both of those have a real failure rate.

Sovura’s commitment is different. We publish a written Continuity Promise: if we ever sunset, you get six months notice, full data export, and either a successor operator, an open-source self-host edition, or a free self-host license with source code. For Founding Members, this is part of the purchase agreement.

Where the experience breaks down

Lonex sells seven products built at different times. The UIs vary across the suite. Some surfaces are AI-assisted, some are not. The result is a working stack that doesn’t always feel like one product.

Permissions live per module. There’s no single role hierarchy across the whole suite. Updates land at different times across the modules so you manage the version matrix yourself.

Sovura is the opposite. One product. One database. One UI system. One permission model with 46 capabilities scoped across every module. You configure once, and everything inherits.

What Sovura ships at the same scale

Sovura Pro at $29 a month annual ($348 a year) ships:

  • Computer aided dispatch with realtime live map
  • A real helpdesk with SLAs, satisfaction ratings, and agent presence
  • Whitelist applications with eleven field types and Discord webhook triggers
  • A block-based community website on your custom domain
  • Department roster, duty sessions, ranks, callsigns, badges
  • Roles, scoped permissions, and webhooks with delivery logs

Hosted. Patched. Backed up. Supported. You sign up. It works.

The five-year math

Founding Membership is the move. $299 once. Lifetime Pro. Hosted forever. Cheaper than Lonex’s stack when you factor in the VPS. Costs less than one year of Pro. Removes every “what if my license server dies” risk.

Thirty spots. Counting them down on the pricing page.

The bottom line

Lonex is fine if you want to spend a weekend installing seven things, run a server, manage a license dependency, and accept that your software is frozen the day Lonex stops shipping.

Sovura is for communities that want their CAD, helpdesk, applications, and community site to just work. Hosted by us. Patched by us. Backed up by us. One bill, one login, one team.
